Product Design & Manufacturing - 2019
Create a product for children ages 5 to 10 that encourages them to save money in a fun way.
The concept began with brainstorming, with the primary goal of creating an entertaining experience for the kids. After several revisions and bouncing ideas, we found inspiration in a well-known arcade game:
air hockey.
This step was critical in achieving the desired result. From sketching different design solutions, making rapid prototypes and testing these ideas with kids.
This was done to validate and improve the design before manufacturing the final product.
To make sure each piece was correctly measured and cut. We used the 3D modeling program called SolidWorks to design each piece needed.
After that, we went to the workshop to build the product.
The end result is a game that encourages savings and healthy competition.
This product is intended to be used by two people, two siblings, a child and their parent, or anyone who wants to use it.
The game consists of putting a coin on the surface and using it as a puck.
Each player will use the mallets and try to score the opposite goal while at the same time preventing the opponent from scoring in your goal.
The person who scores will earn the coin to their side of the piggy bank (or hockey bank in this case).
